I can't tell you how many times I've heard someone say that they have a friend who was recently accepted into premed at UBC.
Now, I've worked there for 15 plus years and I organize resources for the med students had friends who went to med school and there is no PREMED program at UBC.
Application requirements for med school is a bachelors university degree (can be any subject as long as you take the prereq courses). They'll take applications from 3rd year uni students although they prefer that they finish their undergraduate degree first. When you get in you start directly into medical school with year 1 PBL. There is no premed program listed in the calendar.
So I wondered if perhaps premed was slang for the first 2 years of med school since it's all lectures before you hit rotations in years 3/4.
Anyone know?
