Also, I read that you don't necessarily have to have reference letters in by Oct.1. How late is too late for reference letters?

Finally, some schools seem to require first aid/CPR. As a grad student I am required to attend 2 weekly seminars and 1 journal club for which I do not receive any course credit. Occasionally I am also volunteered to give a presentation. Should I be listing these activities in the OMSAS sketch and if so, should I list them under Other?

i'm knee deep in the application process and i've got a conundrum. I attended Laval University as part of the gov. sponsored summer language bursary program. Free accommodation and education in Quebec City, i couldn't pass it up.

My goal in attending was to learn conversational French. I have a question with regards to revealing one's ethnic/socioeconomic/religious status in the school submission questions. Although i do not directly refer to these, mentioning such information in an answer to one of questions helps me to explain myself better. What do you think about this? Should i avoid mentioning these all together?

I've got two questions:

In filling out the autobiographical sketch, is it necessary to list formal education? It seems superfluous given that schools will receive our transcripts.

Also, was anyone in a similar situation as I am - An activity I would REALLY like to list was something I did years and years ago, and I can no longer track down a verifier for this activity. Does anyone know officially if the 1000 word maximum limit for the U of T essay includes the parentheses used for verifiers? I realize that the parentheses will count toward the number of characters, but I'm not sure if U of T will ignore them when counting the words.
